It yelled at me
Amidst the night
Woke me up
With a fright
Screaming echos
From my sleep
Across the bed
The shadows creep
My eyes were closed
But I could feel
The strength of thoughts
Pierce like steel
The moonlit glow
Reflections dance
Leaves outside
Inside enhanced
Into my room
And tossed my cover
Open window
Where dreams enter
Soft and silky
Pillow speaks
Inside my head
Thunder peaks
Breathing in
The furrowed brow
Release the lines
Smoothing now
Stirred within
I hear the chant
Words are singing
Ignore I can’t
If I muster
From revere
I won’t lose
What sings in here
To my side
I turn my body
Who on earth
Wants to call me
The thoughts inside
I pushed away
But louder cries
Begged me to stay
“I came to you
From the land
Enveloped
In darkness hand
Write me down
I’m here right now
Before I die
Let me allow
Pick up the pen
I’ll write for you
You know the drill
It’s what we do”
My retreat
Was not working
And now alert
To hand networking
What started slow
Grabbed attention
And now the pen
On paper quicken
Words appeared
Upon the page
And once completed
Disengaged
Lying back
Upon the pillow
After sleep
Goodbye my fellow
Receding blaze
Thoughts depleted
This is the way
A writer sees it
In the morning
Sunny rays
Highlighted dust
Appears in waves
This enchantment
Sprinkles through
Reminds you of
It’s note to you
You reach over
Read the note
Without a sound
Your heart has spoke
Forget the time
Where there is darkness
In the night
Are many chances
The quiet mind
Is best acquainted
To the words
That help us make it
Inside ourselves
Observed by heaven
If you respond
To what’s given
There is a gift
For you to open
From dark moments
You can find hope in
