I understand what you didn’t say

Dead air amidst the telephone line

I called you on the telephone

Another crisis in my zone

Oh how I’m grateful for you Da

And mother too, my parents ya

You’ve helped me in so many ways

For many years and many days

And when I’m in a deeper hole

I thank the Lord with all my soul

The tortured days that I went through

I never once revealed to you

I let you judge and criticize

I was so pained in my demise

There are some things we cannot say

It hurts for me to think this way

For if I told you all I knew

I felt that you would blame me too

And yet I call when I’m at mercy

You know not all of that which hurts me

My choked up tears just say enough

Your silence too was really tough

Life’s never perfect of this I’m sure

We often face the Devil’s lure

I know I’ve held a lot inside

It’s now in God that I abide

I look at all the good you’ve done

Oh daddy since my life begun

Dear mummy too, I love so dear

With both of you, I’ll make this year

And since we’re on this special topic
